Check that the files are indeed in the /install/upgrade/sql/upgrade folder, and can be read.

The SQL update files might be corrupted. Download the new version's archive again, and use its files from the /install/upgrade/sql/upgrade.

Disable PrestaShop's cache before you start the update script: open the config/settings.inc.php file, and check that define('PS_CACHE_ENABLED', '0'); is indeed set to 0.
